About the Artist
Riley Pritchett is a multidisciplinary artist working across ceramic sculpture and painting, currently completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 3D Art, with graduation expected in May 2026.
Riley’s practice centers on an intuitive, process-driven approach to making, with a strong emphasis on material exploration and physical engagement with form. Ceramics serve as a primary medium, allowing for the investigation of movement, balance, and transformation through hand-built and wheel-thrown techniques.
Alongside ceramics, painting plays an essential role in Riley’s creative process. Color, gesture, and atmosphere are explored through layered surfaces, often informing sculptural decisions and vice versa. This cross-disciplinary approach allows ideas to move fluidly between two-dimensional and three-dimensional work.
Drawing inspiration from natural environments—particularly water, coastal forms, and organic motion—Riley’s work often reflects themes of transition, emotional resonance, and the tension between structure and fluidity. Custom-mixed glazes and surface treatments are used to enhance texture and depth, reinforcing the physical presence of each piece.
Riley continues to develop their artistic voice through experimentation, technical refinement, and a deep enjoyment of the making process itself, embracing both painting and ceramics as complementary modes of expression.
